Family home in lively ocean town

Spacious and comfortable home in Royan, on the Atlantic coast of France, between La Rochelle and Bordeaux, north of the estuary.

There are 4 bedrooms: 3 with double beds, and the 4rth one with twin beds and the possibility to pull out a drawer bed for another child. The house was recently renovated.

There is a small yard outside and you can eat outside on the patio area when the weather is nice! With a view of the mimosa and stone pines.

This listing is my mother`s home, she lives there alone but she often has the grandchildren over so there are lots of toys for children! The home is family friendly.

We will probably be traveling together, possibly with my two daughters who are teenagers. I am an experienced home exchanger and an English teacher, so you can write to me directly. We are both keen on visiting Britain!

There are two bikes available and the possibility to exchange cars as well.

About the location

There is so much to do in Royan! The beach is lovely in all seasons (le Pigeonnier is the closest beach and is quiet and pretty, Pontaillac for surfing and the casino, La grande Conche for shops and food...).

There are shops at walking distance from the house (supermarkets, bakery...) and we`re only a short drive away from the ocean front and beaches (or 30 minutes walk, and a quicker bike ride! There are two bikes available and the possibility to exchange cars as well, and also a city bus service).

Royan has an interesting architecture as it was rebuilt in the 50`s after the war, so there is a mix of styles (1900 villas, 1950`s houses...) There are guided and self tours around the residential areas to explore the creativity of urbanism!

Charente maritime is also culturally active with museums, concerts, festivals... Like Violon sur le sable in July, art exhibitions in Saint palais sur mer nearby, music in Saintes...
The islands (Oléron, Ile de Ré) aren`t far, and there are many beautiful villages to see (Talmont, Meschers...) with Roman churches and architectural visits.

The cities of Bordeaux and La Rochelle are not far and have a lot to see as well.
