Hare Terrace
Hare Terrace is a Victorian terraced home in the central conservation area of Cambridge. It was built in the 1890`s and still retains the charm of the era with a brick frontage and sash windows.
Inside the house has been modernised and extended with a modern kitchen, including a dishwasher, induction hob, bean to cup coffee maker and large American style fridge freezer. The kitchen is part of an open plan area with a through lounge/dining area with full height glass patio doors leading onto a deck and secure south facing garden.
The back gate leads out to the Queens boat house and slipway where we often launch our paddleboards. We would be happy to lend them out if you are interested.
Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms they comprise a king size double room, a double room and a small single room. There is one well-appointed bathroom upstairs.
There is also a small lounge/office with a sofa bed at the front of the house.
There is superfast broadband, google home, and the TV's in the lounge and master bedroom include Netflix, Amazon and Disney channels etc.
About the location
Hare Terrace backs onto the River Cam with the city parks of Jesus Green and Midsummer Common just a stones throw away. Everywhere is walkable, there is no need for a car. Though if you wish to bring one, we may be able to offer a visitors permit.
The sites of the city and river are all very close by. It is only 10 minutes walk along the river path to the world famous university colleges such as Magdelene, Trinity and Kings Colleges.
Here you can hire punts, self-hire or guided, and get everything you need for a punting picnic.
If you walk along the river path away from the city you can enjoy Midsummer Common, Stourbridge Common (the site of medieval fairs) and continue on to the villages of Fen Ditton, Waterbeach and Horningsea all of which have riverside pubs that serve food. You can walk 6 miles without crossing a road. The terrain is completely flat but you get terrific skies and frequently see herons, cormorants, swans and the occasional kingfisher.
There are numerous shops, pubs and restaurants in the immediate neighbourhood, including wonderful independent delis, cafes and craft beer bars to suit all tastes.
There are two Michelin star restaurants Midsummer House (2 stars) and Restaurant 22 (one star) within 5 mins walk if you fancy a special treat,
Local transport networks, trains, buses and cabs can get you further afield and it is possible to do day trips to Ely, Norwich and London. London trains go to Kings Cross with the famous platform 9 and 3/4 and Liverpool Street very frequently. Cambridge is a major commuter hub for London.
Stansted airport can be reached by train in approximately 30mins and there are good train links to both Gatwick and Heathrow.
Cambridge is a wonderful mix of city and countryside, culture and history in a very accessible area.
