Kent House
Kent House is an opulent Georgian residence, forming part of a prestigious seafront terrace with the most spectacular views along the coast of Herne Bay.
Formally known as 1 Marine Terrace, the property was built in 1817 and was the first post office in Herne Bay, run by Maria Banks the Postmistress, who also listed her talents in 1840 as a Perfumer, Librarian, Stationer/Bookseller and Landlady.
The property has been enjoyed by the current owner for 18 years who has sympathetically modernised the house with a stylish yet classic approach to the interior design which is simply stunning.
Steps lead from the private front lawn to the upper ground floor. Here you will find a spacious dining room with spectacular sea views via a double height window. The bespoke 'Crown Imperial' kitchen is open to the dining room, proving to be a very sociable space and features integrated appliances complemented by solid wood work surfaces.
An attractive staircase rises to the first floor which presents an impressive sitting room and a lovely snug, previously used as a double bedroom. The sitting room is just beautiful with twin double height windows providing an incredible coastal vista, framed by the ornate wrought iron balcony which is accessed via doors within the windows themselves.
The second floor provides a large family bathroom with claw foot bath and a double shower. You will then find a large master bedroom with seaward double height windows and a brick fireplace. Two further double bedrooms then occupy the top floor.
Adding even further versatility to this home is the lower ground floor. Benefitting from an independent front entrance door, this whole floor could be adapted for variety of uses and is ideal for those working from home as there are two large rooms and shower room.
