Double room in shared ground floor flat

We are offering a swap with my late mother`s 2 bed flat on the ground floor which has one room occupied by a friend. There is a shared sitting room, bathroom and kitchen.

The flat is in a lovely historic coastal village near Brighton and is a stone`s throw from Rottingdean beach. It is currently being let out as an Airbnb as we do not live there.

About the location

We are near the vibrant city of Brighton and Hove. This is where you will arrive if travelling by train and there are frequent buses along the coast to Rottingdean where the flat is.

Rottingdean has a lovely mix of coast and the Sussex Downs so whether you like to walk of sunbathe there is something for all. The beach is pebbly with rock pools and sand when the tide is out.

The village has all the shops you need including two mini supermarkets, a butcher, green grocer and bakery as well as other high street tea shops and cafes. It is known for its smuggling history a legacy of which is the choice of pubs (4) with the White Horses Hotel also serving drinks. There are some very good eateries including the little French bistro, Chez Franck which has to be booked as it very popular with locals.

Another legacy is the connection with artists, writers and film stars (of the 1930`s-50`s) including Rudyard Kipling and Edward Burne-Jones. The game of Cluedo is said to have been based on a hotel (now residences) where stars such as Cary Grant and Bette Davis once stayed. There are rumours that the former hotel complex is haunted.

A little walk along the coast brings you to Saltdean where the 1930`s Art Deco Lido can be found, a renovated building and pool for swimming, gym, eating and drinking.
