Rustic stone cottage with a panoramic view over the River Minho and Galicia beyond

Our second/country home is a restored stone cottage in the village of Gondarém between Caminha and Cerveira in the Alto Minho, the extreme northwest corner of Portugal.

It sleeps two in the main bedroom and has a single bed in a second bedroom. There is a table for two in the kitchen for informal meals and a dining table for 6 in the main room.

We have excellent fibre Internet with Wi-Fi but no television. The property includes a paved outdoor area for lounging and al fresco meals with a charcoal BBQ. The garden is a bit rough as we have owned the property only a short time but it includes a chestnut tree, two orange trees, two lemon and one wonderful fig tree.

About the location

The Alto Minho is an area of low mountains and beautiful countryside with its west side shoring the Atlantic Ocean and its north edge sculpted by the Rio (River) Minho.

We have listed Porto as the "nearest airport". Really it is the most convenient for most purposes while Vigo (in Spain) is actually closer.

We have a wealth of great restaurants in the area with top-notch options for fish and seafood plus pizza and traditional Portuguese cooking. There are plenty of cultural activities going on in the area especially in Caminha and Cerveira, including many free outdoor concerts in summer.
