Seaside town

A three bed terraced house arranged over 3 floors in a quiet cul de sac not far from the sea in the lovely seaside town of Ramsgate. There is one super king size bed in the large attic bedroom (see photos), one king size bed at the front of the house and one single bed with pullout bed beneath at the rear of the house. There is one downstairs living room formed from knocking through two rooms and a conservatory structure to the rear of the house. In the lounge there is a smart tv, wifi, hi fi (which can play records or stream), piano, dining table and two settees.

The house is centrally heated by a combi boiler with an additional electric fire in the living room.

There is an LG washing machine in the conservatory with the ability to hang washing in the conservatory or the garden.

There is a good size bathroom with bath, shower and toilet and a separate toilet downstairs.

The Stagecoach Loop bus which runs up to every 8 minutes at peak times and circuits round Ramsgate, Broadstairs and Margate has a stop at the end of the road. The bus takes about 10 minutes to get to Broadstairs and about 25-30 minutes to get to Margate (counter clockwise).

Dumpton Park railway station is also within less than 10 minutes walk and trains run regularly to Broadstairs and Margate as well as onwards to London.

There is a fish and chip shop at the end of the road, a Subway and Londis across from the end of the road, a Tesco Express 10 minutes walk away, an Aldi within 15-20 minutes walk and a Waitrose in the town centre (20-25 minutes walk).

About the location

There is a lot to explore in the local area and the house is well positioned as a base with good bus and train links (described above).

Thanet (Ramsgate, Broadstairs and Margate) has 15 sandy beaches and bays stretching from Pegwell Bay in the south to Minnis Bay in the north.

Ramsgate has the only Royal harbour in the U.K. and is famous as the departure and return point for the Dunkirk little ships. It also uniquely has a set of extensive wartime tunnels which kept the population safe during the war and these can be visited. Of more recent times, the large seafront pavilion has been converted to be the biggest Wetherspoons pub in the UK. The Granville theatre on the seafront has also undergone redevelopment and regularly hosts comedy shows and tribute acts.

Broadstairs with all of its associations with Dickens is a walk or bus ride away (Loop bus). During the summer the town hosts many events including Broadstairs Folk Week and a Dickens Festival. Viking Bay beach at Broadstairs is particularly popular in the summer and has many restaurants and cafes located just behind.

Margate is easily accessible by bus, train or car. It is home to the Turner gallery and an emerging art scene with a number of galleries nearby the Turner. Northdown Road with its very varied mix of independent shops, cafes and restaurants has featured heavily in national newspapers in recent times and has been given the accolade of being one of the 'coolest streets in the world'.

Canterbury with Canterbury cathedral is a 20 minute train ride away. The cathedral is best known as the site of the murder of Thomas Becket. The River Stour flows through Canterbury and can be enjoyed by taking a punting tour from the middle of the city.

The mediaeval town of Sandwich is also a short bus or train ride away. The town dates from at least AD 664 and was one of the Cinque Ports. It still has many mediaeval buildings and has a particularly picturesque riverside setting.

Dover is a 35-40 min train ride away or a shorter car ride, Its most famous attraction is Dover Castle which has been particularly significant at different times in history. The castle is largely intact so there is much to visit including mediaeval, Tudor and Second World War sections.

A number of coastal walks linking the different places are possible including, Ramsgate to Broadstairs by the seafront, Broadstairs to Margate via the North Foreland, Ramsgate to Sandwich Bay (with wading birds) and Dover to Sandwich via the clifftop above Dover.

London St Pancras is accessible by high speed train in just over 75 minutes form Ramsgate main station with trains running regularly because of lines via Canterbury, Dover and Margate. There are also services to Victoria and Charing Cross which take longer.

Day trips to France are also possible by ferry from Dover or by the Channel tunnel near Folkestone.
