Semi-detached house

1929 house, extended and modernised, with large garden.

While we do have 2 bedrooms, we would prefer to offer just our front, main, bedroom. This is an empty room used to teach yoga and doubling as a guest room. It is a large room and we have a good quality double futon bed to offer. We can discuss other arrangements if necessary.

We have lodgers, a couple, who live in a loft-conversion apartment at the top of the house. They have their own kitchen, washing machine, and shower/toilet. The stairs and hallway is used by us all.

We request that guests leave outdoor shoes in the hallway, and only wearing slippers or socks etc inside.

We are vegetarian. so while it is up to visitors what they cook, we request that the hob and oven is left clean and free and any meaty fat.

About the location

We live at the lower edge of Surbiton within the London borough of Kingston upon Thames. Within 5 minutes walk there`s a range of fresh food stores (M&S, Iceland, Tesco Express, Asian grocery stores, convenience stores) and a range of eateries.

Tolworth train station, (10 minute walk), has 2 trains a hour to London`s Waterloo station - Journey time 25 minutes. Surbiton train station (10 minutes by bus) has more frequent and quicker trains. Both overground stations, and all local buses, are part of Transport for London scheme with travel tickets used for Underground also. From Waterloo, visitors can walk or take the Underground to central London for cultural events. If going to the National History Museum, you would take the Overground to Wimbledon (4 stops) then transfer to the Underground.

In South West London, there are a range of attractions. (Historic) Kingston upon Thames with cinemas, a theatre and a large shopping centre, is three miles distance. Four bus routes go between us and the city centre.

There are footpaths along the river Thames and the river is used for rowing and boating. Tourist boats extend from Hampton Court Palace (dating from before King Henry V111), through Kingston and along to Richmond.

Nearby parks include Bushy Park, near Hampton Court and Richmond Park extending for 2,500 acres. Both are deer parks. Near home there are a range of small local parks.
