Rural Shetland Escape

Built in 1900 our stone built detached home sits in the beautiful Shetland countryside in Sandwick a village 13 miles south of Shetland’s capital, Lerwick

Since we bought the house in 2017 we have installed a new kitchen, bathroom, en suite and updated most of the insulation throughout as well as replacing the heating system from storage heaters to oil heating.

The house consists of ;
Ground floor: porch, living room, kitchen, bathroom,double bedroom/playroom
First floor: bedroom with super king and en suite, kids bedroom with bunk beds and fold down futon

We have parking spaces at the front of the house and a single garage. We also have a large outbuilding which has been insulated and heated to transform into a home office space. Alongside this is our wash house where we do all our washing and drying (it also houses our drinks fridge and extra freezer!)

About the location

A 20 minute drive from Lerwick and 20 min drive from the airport, Sandwick is well situated to explore our beautiful islands. We have a number of white sandy beaches on our doorstep, a boat trip to Mousa Broch https://www.mousa.co.uk/ (Europe’s most complete example of Iron Aged broch) just 3 mins from the house. Getting to and from the airport is easy with bus transfers 11 times a day.
