Nursery Cottage
We live in a beautiful, characterful 400 year old cottage. It has plenty of character but is modern and comfortable as well. It is spacious and airy with a couple of low beamed doors.
Upstairs the Master bedroom has a king size bed and en-suite with shower, our pretty double bed guest room is opposite the main bathroom with roll top bath, another light and airy double bedroom, with king size bed is also off this corridor.
Downstairs is the conservatory dining/lounge/TV area with underfloor heating which overlooks the garden, kitchen with gas/electric range and dishwasher, utility area, downstairs shower and toilet, snug lounge/TV with wood burner stove.
There is also another lounge/TV leading onto a downstairs double bedroom and en-suite with bath and shower over. (We use these rooms as our B&B facility and for family). We tend to use the conservatory door as our main entrance and the front side door as our front entrance. There is also a main front door and back door with cat-flap.
The garden is flat and well maintained with a small wildlife pond. An electric 5 bar gate provides good security and there is ample parking on the drive and room to turn a car around. Outside lights are plentiful.
There are a variety of seating areas in the garden and a garden room with a wood fired stove. A hot tub that is ready to use is close to the house. In a stone building on the drive there is a cute bar with a fridge, selection of drinks, honesty box, board games and music.
The main road, the A368, is busy as it is a thoroughfare for airport traffic and Weston-Super-Mare, however, we have very modern double-glazed windows and the garden is situated at the back of the house.
About the location
We are situated in a linear village with a well stocked shop (next door but one), village hall opposite and a superb pub belonging to Thatcher's cider, 'The Railway Inn'. This is a 6 minute walk from our cottage. (Menus for various local pubs are in the B&B lounge underneath the TV.) There is also a cider shop along the road selling specialist brands of their cider label. A mile down the road is the Mendip Activity Centre and dry ski slope offering a range of outdoor activities. Mendip Golf Club and Golf range is 8 minutes from the cottage.
We are close to the North Somerset coast and the towns of Clevedon and Weston-Super-Mare. Inland we are at the base of the beautiful Mendips incorporating Burrington Coombe, Cheddar Gorge and caves, Wells , Glastonbury and Bath to the East and Bristol to the North. There are many pretty villages in North Somerset and great walks around the local area and on the beaches. Bruton, a popular old wool town, is a 45 minute drive away where the Hauser & Wirth gallery is situated and the Newt hotel and gardens.
