Fremantle cottage near river and beach, cafes and transport

One bedroom renovated worker`s cottage, wood floors, ideal location, easy care tranquil garden (needs watering in summer), sought after neighbourhood, two blocks from the river, 20 minute walk to Fremantle, 30 minute walk to the beach, 3 hours drive from the South West vineyard region. Good bus services, Convenient to several universities. Most of the year, the climate is moderate and very pleasant.

House is insulated but not airconditioned (overhead fan in the bedroom) so not for anyone who is not heat tolerant - for a total of about 15 days in the summer it does get hot. In winter it is mild and there are space heaters if required, and an open fire.

Low maintenance and low mod-con - a washing machine, but no drier or electronic kitchen gear, only basic internet connection and TV and sound system.

About the location

The area is on the border with the city of Fremantle, and has something of an inner city feel, a mix of old and new architecture just off a cafe precinct (shops, a jazz club, and there`s a supermarket a 10 minute walk away), close to the Fremantle Arts Centre and the Fremantle Leisure Centre including pool.

The river is at the end of the street looking downstream to the old traffic bridge and the working port, and upstream to riverside cafes and marinas and beyond.

There is a cycle path up the river to Perth and down through Fremantle to the beaches and parks to the south.

Fremantle is a diverse and engaging port city, and trains run regularly from there to Perth and connections. The station is about a 20-25 minute walk but there are connecting buses. Fremantle is well situated as a base for travel outside of the metro area.
