Fuzz Cottage

Peak District country cottage offering cosy & welcoming home comforts, plenty of natural light, secure private parking and a walled cottage garden. It is set within the beautiful village of Ashford-in-the- Water on the banks of the river Wye.

The cottage was an Ex Police House where the local Bobby was stationed and which we renovated in 2000. It offers 3 double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and log burner in the lounge along with the usual home comforts. You can step out of the front door and set off through the village onto some lovely walking within the wonderful countryside of the Peak District.

The village offers 2 pubs, a restaurant, tea shop, village shop, church, playground, cricket pitch and is within easy reach everything the Peak District has to offer. The market town of Bakewell in under a 2 mile walk away.

With a welcoming cottage as your base and the natural beauty this area has to offer we feel sure you will have a very enjoyable stay.

About the location

Apart from the endless miles of walking and hiking amongst the wonderful scenery of the Peak District National Park (UK`s oldest National Park) there is so much more. You can enjoy visiting some fascinating historical houses and sites, stopping off at the many charming villages, pubs (trying locally produced ales) restaurants and eateries. Plenty of home baking available at the many tea shops too, after which you may wish to shed some of those calories and get active. Pursuits other than walking range from rock climbing (which attracts climbers from around the world) road cycling is popular but there are two excellent specific cycling trails nearby, caving, fly fishing for rainbow trout (available via day tickets) horse riding, paragliding, and sailing on a nearby reservoir. Particularly of interest may be the following, all of which are within walking distance or just a short drive away.

Two excellent cycling/walking trails on old disused railway lines (1 within a mile) Monsal Trail and Tissington Trail.

Chatsworth House - one of Englands finest country houses (excellent Farm shop)

Haddon Hall - One of the most romantic fortified Manor Houses in England (setting for filming of BBC`s Jane Eyre).

Monsal Head Viaduct - Spectacular views. (within half an hours walk)

Lathkill Dale - Nature reserve.

Bakewell Market Town - (under 2 miles)
