Lovely flat in quiet secure complex in Angel Islington, London

A light, central and conveniently-located home in sought-after Angel Islington, Zone 1, Central London. There is lovely communal zen garden out the front which is a secure gated complex. While it is very close to the cafes, bars, restaurants and theatres of Upper Street, it is tucked away in a quiet street, and there is no traffic outside any of the windows (just a view of trees and gardens). We are ideally looking to exchange with someone in Sydney, Australia. We are both Australian, and have been living in the UK for 15 years.

About the location

Featuring a rich and varied nightlife with many theatres, concert halls and jazz bars, there is always an opportunity to spend a good evening. It is also the home of world-class theatre and a vibrant comedy scene, as well as traditional English pubs and green spaces. Being in Zone 1 Central London, it is very close to all the tourist sites, which are in walking or cycling distance, or a short tube ride away. We have bikes available (with secure bike locker) that you are welcome to use, or you can use the Lime bikes that are dotted around the streets and available for hire via the Uber app.

You will find that Islington is one of London’s trendiest, most eclectic neighbourhoods, boasting a rich history and a strong sense of community. The area`s posh-meets-street vibe is a magnet for creative types: locals have included George Orwell, Lily Allen and many from the cast of the popular soap EastEnders.

When it’s sunny, you can’t beat a walk or cycle along Regent’s Canal. You can stop for cakes and crafts on the Floating Showroom or hop on a cruise via ZSL London Zoo to Little Venice.

Our home is a 1 minute walk to Upper Street. Upper Street is lined with independent boutiques and quirky design stores. Shop cool Scandinavian labels at Wild Swan, charity finds at Mary’s Living & Giving, or retro gadgets and toys at After Noah. On Camden Passage, famous for vintage shops and antique markets, you can find anything from art deco gems to bespoke African waistcoats.

Foodies...Tuck into a Tuscan breakfast at Food Lab; or head to Ottolenghi, famous for its cookbooks and mouthwatering window displays. On weekends, rise at the crack of dawn to beat the queues outside Sunday, for one of London’s tastiest brunches. Or go for a full English at Alpino cafe on Chapel Market.
