Harlequin House - Rochdale

Our home is semi-detached, with open an aspect at the front, overlooking Rochdale Cemetery, and a good sized garden at the back. Although we`re in the suburbs, there are lots of green and open spaces on our doorstep, meaning we`re lucky enough to have an abundance of British wildlife living in our garden and surrounding area - we often see birds, squirrels, frogs, hedgehogs, bats, foxes, owls, and even badgers.

There are a number of steps leading up to the front of our home, and the property is on two levels.

Our master bedroom has a King Size bed, and we also have a sofa bed, that sleeps two, in our back bedroom.

Our livingroom has a cosy and homely feel with a 3 piece suite, TV/DVD player , log-burning stove, upright piano, record player and a selection of records.

We have a well equipped kitchen-diner, which leads out into the back garden, and a quaint pantry which offers plenty of space for storing food and drink.
The back garden has a table and chairs overlooking a small pond, which is lovely to sit out and enjoy meals or drinks in the warmer months.

The bathroom has a toilet, wash basin and bath with shower. There is street parking available outside the front of our home.

We also have a large collection of board games available for wet and rainy afternoons.

About the location

We live in a leafy suburb of Manchester, within walking distance of the Northern Milltown, Rochdale.

The town is famous for The Rochdale Pioneers and was the birthplace of the Cooperative movement. It has an interesting history which can be discovered in the Touchstones Museum (a 15 minute walk from our house). The town centre is a 20 minute walk away, or 5 minutes by bus (there is a bus stop on our street). The centre has lots of shops, supermarkets, cafes, restaurants, pubs, and excellent transport links.

The train from Rochdale stops at Manchester (15 minutes), various towns and villages in Yorkshire (20-45 minutes), Leeds (1 hour 20 minutes), Southport (seaside - 1 hour 30 minutes).

Our local city, Manchester, has a wealth of entertainment on offer; theatres, sports stadiums, bars and clubs, restaurants, shops, museums, music venues. It`s a warm and welcoming city with lots to see and do throughout the year.
From Manchester, you can travel by train all around the country with ease - Liverpool (40 minutes), The Lake District (1 hour 10 minutes), London (2 hours), Edinburgh/Glasgow (3 hours), Cardiff (3 hours).

We`re very well situated in the North West of England, with the M62 only a 5 minute drive away leading to the East and West of the country, and the M6 a 40 minute drive away leading further North and South of the country.

There`s lots of of beautiful moorland and countryside (South Pennine Moors and North Yorkshire Moors) within a 10/15 minute drive from our house, perfect for walking and enjoying dramatic, un-spoilt countryside, British wildlife, and typically Northern scenery.

We have a leisure centre just a 5 minute walk away, with a swimming pool and gym, and a traditionally British pub at the end of our street which also serves food.

There`s a local football team (soccer) whose ground is at the end of our street (games can be enjoyed at a reasonable price with pie and peas at half-time) and a golf course, rugby club and cricket club within walking distance.

We also have a local cinema and bowling alley within a half hour walk of our home.
