Ideal to visit Provence

4 km from Avignon, in the residential town of Villeneuve, my house is a very functionnal house. It was built in the early seventies and when I bought it in 2010, I modernised and did a lot of esthetic improvements. The living area is on the first floor: open kitchen, living-room, my office (which wont be available to my guests), my bedroom and a bathroom, with Italian shower, washbasin and toilet.

On the ground floor, at the front, there is the utility room, the guest bedroom and a sort of summer lounge. At the back, there is a 2-room flat that I rent to tourists, usually by the week. It has its own entrance. The house has 2 entrances of its own: through the main door on the ground floor, and via the outside staircase and balcony.

I have a washing machine and a freezer in the utility room, but no drier. I do not have a dishwasher.

About the location

The location of my house is very special, urban and rural at the same time. Urban because it is only a 15 min. walk from the historical center of Villeneuve, and rural because it is situated in a former agricultural area where no construction is now allowed. Consequently, there are very few houses.
The area has kept its agricultural character, with fields and orchards, but it is also now used for leisure. 300 yards away from my house, you will find the municipal swimming-pool, campsite, tennis club, skateboard park, dog-school, football grounds, etc. Many people from Avignon and Villeneuve come to the Plaine de l`Abbaye to jog, cycle, walk their dogs, or just to relax and enjoy the beautiful views on the Popes Palace in Avignon and the Fortress Saint André in Villeneuve.

Villeneuve lez Avignon is a very pleasant little town (12 000 inhabitants) on the Rhône river, across from Avignon. It has a a lot of medieval buildings, going back mainly to the 14th century when the popes resided in Avignon. The local authorities are still in the process of renovating the streets and buildings.
