Comfortable family home - Burray

An ordinary, comfortable family home with good connections to elsewhere in Orkney (an hourly bus service passes the door which connects St Margaret`s Hope with Kirkwall and Stromness). There is one double bedroom with en suite facilities with two smaller bedrooms (one with a double bed and one with a single bed). There is an additional attic space with another double bed. There are two sitting rooms and a dining room with large windows. The living room has an open fire for staying cosy in cold weather and a sheltered garden for sunny days. It is walking distance from a good pub which serves good food and next door to the village shop. It is walking distance from a good beach or two. There is wifi, of course, but limited mobile phone signal (which could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on how you look at it).

About the location

Orkney is a stunning location for a family holiday or for those who have an interest in archaeology or nature or just like island life.

There are direct flights from Norway (summer only), Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and Inverness. There are passenger / car ferries from Aberdeen, Scrabster and Gil`s Bay. There is a passenger boat from John O`Groats with a connecting bus service to Inverness in the summer months.

Burray is a great base to explore Orkney`s mainland and outer islands. We are connected to Kirkwall by causeways and so can drive to Kirkwall in 20 minutes, Stromness in 40 minutes and St Margaret`s Hope in 10 minutes. We have a vibrant community with a good play park, with an international standard crazy golf course and a tennis court. There is plenty going on at most times of the year whether you like traditional music or good food. A drive will take you to an infinite variety of coastal walks, archaeology, empty unspoiled beaches and other islands.
