Casita de la Luna 8

A romantic, traditional village house the heart of Andalucía with a large living area, double bedroom, private terrace and wifi Half an hour from the coast and an hour from Malaga airport

The cottage is completely self- contained with a private terrace with delightful views over the valley with tropical fruit orchards and vineyards. The very high beamed ceilings and hand made clay floor tiles create a warm atmosphere.

The cottage has been completely renovated inside and out in the Andalucian style, preserving the traditional features but including modern appliances.

Situated at the edge of the beautiful but little known white village of Cútar, the cottage is accessed via a pretty patio in traditional patterned stonework with a large flowering cactus and tropical plants

The door of the cottage opens into an open-plan kitchen and living area with an attractive open fireplace in traditional brickwork. The high beamed ceilings help stabilize the summer and winter temperatures. The room has substantial quality furnishings which enhance the Moorish-Spanish feel of the space. There is a CD player and radio, CDs, books, local guides and board games. The kitchen is equipped to modern standards with a gas hob, fridge, microwave, toaster and electric kettle.

The bedroom has a traditional Andalucian 'matrimonial' double bed and wardrobe. It has a warm and intimate feel. Like the rest of the cottage, the bathroom has a traditional feel, being decorated in hand made ceramic and terracotta tiles. However it is modern and fully equipped including a shower, half bath and bidet.

About the location

Cutar is a small "white village" built by the Moors. It is steeped in history, and recently a thirteenth century Koran was discovered with a sixteenth century "book of laws". The village is high up, tucked into the foothills of the great Mt Maroma 2000m that dominates the skyline. You will need a car and will have to be OK with the winding mountain road that takes you to the village. Velez Malaga, the nearest town means the fort of Malaga and is where the ancient army was garrisoned. Velez is a traditional Spanish town and the whole area is tradition and rural, relying on mixed fruit farming. It gives few concessions to tourists, but is very much liked by those who like to be part of Spanish rural life. Walking and touring by car is the favourite pastime. Far from the tourist trail, the house is 50 minutes drive from Málaga airport and 40 minutes from the city itself (now home to more museums and galleries than any other provincial capital in Spain). It’s 30 minutes from the coast and 45 minutes from some of the best deserted beaches in Andalucia. Granada is one and a half hours away and Córdoba two and a half hours.
