La Chimenea

Our home is a reformed cortijo(cottage)The main part of the cottage has two bedrooms and a modern bathroom and kitchen. The bathroom has a walk-in shower. The kitchen is fully fitted with fridge-freezer, microwave, gas hob with electric oven and dishwasher. There is a large lounge/diner with Smart tv. We have Wifi and through the internet, access to UK tv/radio and and English telephone number. There is a conservatory.
There are two large terraces, the one adjoining the cottage is very shaded by vines and bougainvillia with views to the mountains. The second terrace is also shaded by a wooden pergola and there is a 8 x 4 metre private swimming pool. On this terrace there is also a reformed bodega which now has a double bedroom with ensuite shower/toilet and a kitchen area. There is a petanque pitch near the house. There are extensive grounds covered mainly in vines and with a large variety of fruit trees, avocado, orange, lemon, fig, olive, mango etc.. We produce our own wine but on a small scale now.

About the location

We are in a peaceful rural area with views north to the Sierra Tejida and Almijara mountains and to the west to the sea. The land around here is mainly set to fruit trees. There are good walks from the house and for nature-lovers there are kestrels, buzzards, eagles beeeaters are often seen also even the occasional hoopoe and chameleon.For much of the year a goatherd grazes his flock on the rough ground across the valley. We are about 2.5kms from the traditional small town of Torrox which has a number of bars, restaurants, banks, chemists, post office and Health Centre. Its an old town established by the Moors as evidenced by its narrow , shaded streets.
A couple of kilometres beyond the town is Torrox Costa, a popular seaside resort although on a relatively small scale. There is a good beach and promenade and many shops and restaurants. Its been proven to have the 'best climate in Europe'
We are about 10 minutes from the motorway and so we can drive to Malaga airport in an hour.
The popular resorts of Nerja and Torre del Mar area short drive away as are the pretty mountain villages of Competa and Frigiliana.
