Ski in ski out apartment. Fantastic in summer as well - see swap report. Ski down to Hintermoos ski station to start exploring the huge, 120 km, Hochkönig ski region. Apartment has room with twin bunk beds, sleeps 4, with modern bathroom, large studio room including modern kitchen and balcony. Large swimming pool, hot showers and sauna on lower ground floor, with pool looking out onto the slopes. Maria Alm, 5 minute drive from Hintermoos ski station, is an Austrian gem of a place. Recommended route to apartment, fly to Saltzburg Airport and then hire a car, get a bus or train (these go to Saalfelden, closeby and then a local taxi, or a get a taxi (which sometimes can be shared) direct to the apartment from Salzburg. Saalfelden, is closeby with trains to Salzburg for a day out shopping or it’s an easy drive. Excellent apres ski just a few minutes away in traditional Austrian pub - `Wiesenstadl`. Ski off the slope or just walk over from the apartment, open day and evening during winter season. Hotel Eder in Maria Alm for something posher. Ski lifts open from mid-December (and usually there is stacks of snow over the season) or earlier and the slopes are sprayed, if low snowfall very early in the season. There are free buses along the valley available with your ski pass. Some slopes stay open until Easter Monday (check slope opening dates) and great skiing can be enjoyed out in the warm sun and under the blue skies. Cross-country skiing is also available across the Saalfelden/Leogang area. Also drive to Kaprun for Kitszsteinhorn glacier skiing from October to early summer. Fantastic area either summer or winter for individuals or families. Stacks to do in the summer: mountain biking, trekking; hiking; climbing (Hochkönig is a classified `Ultra`, Klizsteinhorn is over 3,000 metres, group climbs and individual guided climbing available to book locally, if you are in to that kind of thing), biking; and base for sports activities and leisure. Ski lifts operate during the summer on designated days, to get you up into the alps (with your bike!) and cool off, walking up in the `Alpen` and along mountain streams; fantastic views.
