Medieval town house in art village

This medieval town house has been renovated to a comfortable standard and has all modern conveniences. Inside, there are original oak beams and tiled floors, with stone walls and plenty of character. The front is on the small street leading to the village square, although traffic is one way and has restrictions, making it a quiet location. Outside at the back is a small courtyard with high walls and tiled floor, containing dining furniture and provision for outdoor lighting. The house has recently been rewired and central heating installed, making it comfortable whatever the season. The walls are very thick stone, keeping the inside cool in summer and warm in winter. The kitchen has all the usual conveniences - gas hob, electric oven, fridge/freezer, all cutlery/crockery and cooking equipment (no dishwasher). There is a downstairs toilet on this floor. The living room has a dining table (for 6), settee, electric stove, tv (no live tv but plenty of DVDs) video player and music centre with CDs.
Upstairs, there are 2 bedrooms - main one has a double bed and a daybed (suitable for sleeping), clothes storage and breakfast area. Second bedroom has 2 sturdy fold up beds and all bedding/towels are provided. Also on this floor is a shower room with enclosed shower, toilet and basin. Up to the next floor is the attic, used mainly for storage.

About the location

The village is set at the foot of Les Montagnes Noires - just north of the Pyrenees. As a national park, there are plenty of beautiful places for visiting and walking, with quaint villages and lakes. On the other side of the Montagnes Noires is Carcassonne - the ancient Cathar walled city. All over this region are similar `Cathar Country` fortified towns. Nearby runs the Camino de Santiago de Compostella - ancient pilgrimage walking routes converging in NE Spain. The nearby Lac St Ferreol feeds the Canal du Midi - both places well worth visiting. A 2 euro bus from Revel takes an hour to Toulouse - see the Rose Cathedral and and Aerospace Museum, amongst other attractions. Revel itself has a 14th century market (featured as one of the top 100 markets in France), and sells produce every Saturday. Further afield is Albi (Toulouse Lautrec museum), Narbonne (Mediterranean coast) and the Pyrenees.
