Charming rustic farmhouse in northern rural France

The house began as an agricultural shelter over two hundred years ago. It was converted into a house in 1850. It is rustic with brick walls (which still bear animal tethering rings) and oak beams in the main part of the house.

There are two self-contained bedrooms downstairs and three more upstairs with walls but no doors between them.

The large sitting-room has a spectacular central fireplace (logs are supplied). There is no working central heating but electric heaters upstairs. (There is hot water).

There is a dishwasher, washing machine and two fridges.

A large covered terrace leads to a narrow strip of garden, which in turn opens out into a meadow with a drum firepit, perfect for sunny autumnal afternoons or star-gazing nights.

About the location

Crécy is a smallish rural French town famous for a battle fought there between England and France in 1346. There are monuments to the battle around the town, a new museum and a tourist information office.

There are three bars, a takeaway kebab restaurant and various shops, including two boulangeries, a butcher`s, a local grocery store, a delicatessen and a Carrefour supermarket. There is also a lovely retro cinema. There is a food market on Mondays.

The enormous Crécy Forest is close by - excellent for long, quiet walks, jogs, or cycle rides. The battlefields of the Somme are only half an hour away.
