A spacious Victorian villa ideally situated for exploring historic Leicester and Leicestershire.

My home is a spacious 4 bedroomed Victorian terraced villa. Upstairs are the 2 double bedrooms that are available for swaps, and a family bathroom. Downstairs is a comfortable sunny sitting-room with large TV, a spacious kitchen/dining room with a sitting area at the end looking out over the pleasant garden, a toilet and the hall.

About the location

The house is ideally located in Clarendon Park a leafy Victorian-era residential area which is rated by the Sunday Times as one of the best places to live in the East Midlands. It is a quiet leafy street just a few minutes away from Queens Road with it's trendy shops, cafés, bars and restaurants.

Also close by is pretty Victoria Park, the University of Leicester, de Montfort Hall and the Museum and Art Gallery. De Montfort University is a short walk away.

The historic city centre and railway station is a mile away via a 10 minute bus ride from a bus stop in Queens Road or a pleasant half-hour walk through Victoria Park and along charming New Walk, a delightful tree-lined Victorian promenade, which takes you past the Museum and Art Gallery and into the centre of the city.

There is plenty to do in the city centre, including visiting the market, shopping centres, Town Hall Square, the quaint Lanes area.
Curve Theatre is renowned for top-rate musicals and the Phoenix Cinema offers art-house films. There is a good range of restaurants in the city centre. Belgrave Road, the 'golden mile' , offers a great choice of Asian cuisine.

Also well worth a visit is the King Richard 3rd Centre, which explores the story of the discovery of the King's remains in the city centre (the 'King under the car park') and his re-internment in the Cathedral. Medieval and Roman sites are nearby, including the old Guild Hall, and there are lovely walks and cycles along the river and canal. Nearby too are Leicester City football and rugby grounds

The Space Centre is a fascinating outing. Abbey Park, Bradgate Park, the University Arboretium and Aylestone Meadows are interesting and good for walking. Further afield north is the National Trust arts and craft property, Stoneywell.

Leicester is also ideally placed for exploring Leivestershire's pretty villages, with lovely walks in rolling countryside. Foxton Locks is interesting. Rutland Water is a pleasant day trip, 45minutes drive away, and offers pleasant walking, sailing and cycling round the lake, with bikes for hire.
