Its a lovely village house with character and atmosphere, some of it is 16th century, some more recent . The house is set in half an acre of garden with a small river running along the bottom. The rooms, large and comfortable shabby chic, include a sitting room with an open fire, large tv and south-facing windows to the garden; a dining room and a spacious kitchen with an Aga and french doors onto a terrace for eating alfresco in the summer. Upstairs are three double bedrooms, one with an ensuite bathroom, another with a shower. There is also a family bathroom. There are bicycles which can be used and a small rowing boat for mucking about on the river.
About the location
The house is on the edge of a small, pretty Suffolk village, near the lovely medieval village of Lavenham, Long Melford, Bury St Edmunds and the Dedham Vale which is Constable country. The village has a green, a pub with a good restaurant and useful shop run by the local community. Its a beautiful, unspoilt part of England, famed from its softly rolling hills and clear light. Its about an hour's drive to the coast, and under an hour and a half on the train to London from Sudbury, fifty minutes from Colchester. Cambridge and Colchester are about 40 minutes by car. Its a lovely area for walking, cycling shopping for antiques, restaurants, pubs and exploring by car.
