L`Ancienne Boulangerie

Our stone cottage dates back at least to the time of the French Revolution, but its immediate surroundings are much older. We believe it was once one of the bakeries for the village. With views of two ancient chateaux and around the corner from a listed Romanesque church, history is evident everywhere you look.

The house has been a holiday house for many years and is not luxurious, but we spend most of our time in the garden watching the view or out and about in the area. We have not yet been there in winter, but the previous owners did stay there and the wood fire stoves in the kitchen and lounge room are substantial

About the location

Badefols d`Ans has a boulangerie, a charcuterie and a small grocer, plus two great restaurants, all within a 2-minute walk. There are many great walks in the area, including one through the local walnut groves to a viewpoint from which you can see for miles across the valley in every direction.

There are beautiful villages everywhere, including the market/chateau town of Hautefort, 5 minutes` drive and Saint-Robert - an official `plus beau village` - just 9km away.

The village is within half an hour of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Vézère Valley and Montignac`s famous Lascaux prehistoric cave. The Dordogne River is a short drive further on or you can follow the Vézère through beautiful villages to the confluence with the Dordogne at gorgeous Limeuil.

Brive airport is 45 minutes away and Limoges and Bergerac each 1 hr 10 minutes. A car is necessary.
