The house is an old Girondine (1850) situated on the bank of the River Dordogne and amongst the vineyards of St Emilion. It has a big garden with fruit trees, terrace and car port. There is an old fireplace in a very large salon with supply of logs, central heating. Downstairs is a walk in shower room and a bedroom. Upstairs is a bathroom and a large bedroom. It is not a safe house for children (low windows upstairs and the river is tidal with currents.)
Mains gas and water supply. We have bikes available for use since cycling along the river tow path and through the vineyards is a favourite activity with us.
A car would be useful because it is 7 km to the railway station. Bordeaux is less than an hour on the train. The coast (sand dunes) is an hour and a half on the train. Good for cycling and bird watching there too.
Pretty village with shop, bar, hairdressers, charcuterie and creperie. Supermarket 6 km.

About the location

The riverside location is ideal for walking and cycling. It is close to Bordeaux for days out for city / cultural / shopping activities. There are market days in the local villages and the small town of Castillon la Bataille has 'tous commerce'. Entre Deux Mers is across the river and is hilly with pretty countryside.
