Harbour-side house in historic coastal town

Our house is by the harbour in Dunbar, the sunniest town in the UK. In the unlikely event of poor weather, there is an open fire in the sitting room and an Aga in the kitchen to keep you cozy. We have a double bedroom, a twin bedroom and a room with bunk beds. The bunkbeds have full-size adult mattresses and are very comfortable. There are also a couple of additional beds if you want to squeeze extra small folk in. The bathroom has a bathtub and shower and is downstairs. The house has partial sea views from the kitchen, landing and two bedrooms. There is a lovely pub across the road and fantastic fish restaurants within a few minutes walk. Our house is close to the high street for shopping and only a few minutes walk away from the railway station, where you can catch regular trains to Edinburgh, Newcastle and other destinations. Edinburgh is about 20 minutes on the train, and Newcastle 1 hour. The swimming pool/gym is a few very scenic steps away from our house. We have wifi, a TV/DVD player, an Xbox 360 plus games, a music system to play vinyl records and CDs. And lots and lots of books and toys. We have a kitten, who would need a little care from the exchange guests.

About the location

Dunbar is a historic coastal town with a working harbour where you can watch the fishermen at work, as well as the lifeboat crew, whose station is just outside our house. There are beautiful beaches for swimming, playing and surfing, and two golf courses. The thriving high street has art galleries, gift shops, cafes, restaurants, an artisan bakery and a wonderful greengrocer/wholefood shop. Just outside of the town, you'll find Belhaven fruit farm, where you can pick your own strawberries and have a fantastic meal. There is Belhaven Smokehouse for the best smoked salmon and cheeses to enjoy after a day by the sea. Dunbar is the birthplace of the naturalist John Muir and is the starting point of the John Muir Way, so it's a paradise for walkers.
