Highfield House, Clayhidon

We are currently open to homeswaps in the school holidays only in 2016, Easter and Summer. Open to offers.

Our large, comfortable family home is located on the Devon Somerset border, in the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (http://www.blackdownhillsaonb.org.uk/).

Downstairs we have a large sitting room with cosy log burners, a dining room to seat 8 with additional log burner and wood fired oven (perfect for pizzas), a large and well equipped kitchen with fantastic views over the valley, a conservatory and additional lounge (especially equipped for children). The conservatory can also be used for dining and will seat 10 easily. There is also an office, boot room and laundry.

There are four bedrooms upstairs;
Bedroom 1 – Super king sized bed
Bedroom 2 – Single bed, with additional single bed on a trundle underneath which can be used to make up a double bed or two separate single beds.
Bedroom 3 – Two single beds
Bedroom 4 – Smaller room with a cot for baby/toddler.

If you need additional beds there is a double sofa bed in the downstairs office which can then also be used as a bedroom. There is a shower room downstairs also.

Our bathroom has been recently refurbished and has a large power shower and lovely large cast iron bath with views over the fields.

We have a child friendly garden with a playground, trampoline and vegetable patch. We have lots of chickens to provide you with fresh eggs, and no other pets. We also have a lovely bluebell wood for you to explore.

We are happy to provide highchair, cot, travel cots, pushchairs, bikes etc as required. Our 7 seater car can be made available by prior arrangement.

About the location

We live in the parish of Clayhidon, which is a village that is spread out over several miles. Our house is in a hamlet called Garlandhayes and contains about 10 houses. We lie a mile from our two local pubs; The Half Moon in Clayhidon and The Merry Harriers.

Although we are in a rural location, we are only 10 minutes from the M5 (Junction 26), and there are local shops and two supermarkets 8 minutes away in Wellington, and the larger town of Taunton is 15 minutes away with many shops, cinemas etc. Internet food shopping is available from all the major supermarkets to us here.

Apart from exploring locally in the Blackdown Hills we are in a good central location for exploring other attractions in the Westcountry:

The National Trust – Killerton, Knightshayes, Barrington Court and Montecute (as featured in Wolf Hall on the BBC) are all between 25-45 mins drive. http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/

Bath – 1.25 hrs drive http://visitbath.co.uk/
