Heybridge Mill House

Our house is an Eighteenth Century former Mill house set in about 1.5 acres of garden on the banks of the Chelmer and Blackwater canal. We have a small orchard and some lovely old barns and outbuildings. Our garden is surrounded by water and our house used to be attached to a working Mill which was powered by the River Blackwater. The House has big airy rooms with lots of character. We have wood burning stoves, a play room for our children a big breakfast room that looks out over the garden, a large sitting room with a piano.

About the location

The Blackwater Estuary is a beautiful tidal estuary on the Essex coast famous for its diversity of wildlife and historic connection with sailing and boats. Maldon is Mediaeval town and a centre for historic boat owners. As well as the connection with the sea this part of Essex has some wonderful walks and many small villages and historic sites to visit. We are close to the historic cities of Chelmsford and Colchester with their museums, cinemas and galleries and only 50 miles outside of London (45 minutes by train from the neighbouring town of Witham)
