Stone built 3 storey Victorian town house

Our house is a large stone built Victorian house with high ceilings, large rooms and some original features. There are two lounges with a wood burner in the downstairs lounge and satellite television and DVD player in both lounges. There is a large garden suitable for children's games with a sizeable trampoline big enough for adults. There is plenty of room for parking on the drive at the back of the house

The house is spread over 3 floors with a large kitchen, 4 double bedrooms, 2 lounges and 2 bathrooms. Two of the bedrooms have double beds with bunk beds in one of the other bedrooms and a single bed and a good pullout bed in the last bedroom. There are wonderful views from the bedrooms across the hills.

The house is close to the centre of Castle Douglas and you can pop out to the shops and cafes in a couple of minutes

About the location

Castle Douglas is a small market town located in Dumfries and Galloway in the southwest of Scotland. In Castle Douglas, known as CD to everyone, there are some lovely independent shops, numerous cafes and a beautiful Loch at the bottom of the town where you can hire a paddle boat or practice your putting. There is a 9 hole golf course in Castle Douglas and many other courses in the vicinity. Down by the loch there is beautiful theatre that shows films over the weekends and is 10 minutes walk from the house. You can also walk from our house across the fields, along the old railway line to the National Trust site Threave Castle which sits on an island in the middle of the river Dee. You can be rowed across to the island to explore the castle or spot the Ospreys who nest on the estate

Dumfries and Galloway is very quiet and unspoilt area with lots of beautiful walks up hills, through woods and lochs or over the cliffs. Our favourite walks are along the estuaries at Kippford and Rockcliffe or up over the cliffs at Balcary point. It is a restful and relaxing place where you will never fight for a parking space or feel you need to rush. For the kids there is the Chocolate Factory, Dalscone Farm and Cream of Galloway as well as swimming at Castle Douglas or our favourite, the new pool at Kirkcudbright
