Light and cosy barn conversion on the edge of Exmoor

This is a converted barn which is part of a beautiful old courtyard. Downstairs there are two spacious bedrooms and large hallway, upstairs is another bedroom and an open plan living space/kitchen with vaulted ceiling and beautiful views of meadows, lake and courtyard. It has a wonderfully open, light and spacious feel and is always warm and toasty in the winter time with a large wood burner in the living space. There is an en suite bathroom downstairs adjoining main bedroom with a luxuriously large bath to enjoy a soak in and a shower room upstairs.

About the location

Our home is part of a stunning old courtyard situated next to an Elizabethan manor house in the heart of the countryside. It is surrounded by 500 acres of trees, fields and woodland (as well as two lakes) so you can enjoy the simplicity of stepping foot outside the door and going on many different walks or cycle rides around the farm. It goes without saying that there is much wildlife to be enjoyed here… red deer, buzzards, foxes, canadian geese, to mention but a few you may come across when here.

We have ducks, chickens (yes, there may be fresh eggs available!), and we also have an exmoor pony (all of which are fed by neighbours when we are away).

South Molton is the nearest town to us (5 mins drive) and originated in early Saxon times. It is rich in traditional architecture and has a growing reputation for its antique shops, There is a regular pannier market on Thursdays and Saturdays, selling arts and crafts and local produce. Today it still flourishes as a market town and also boasts the largest honey farm in the country! South Molton has a modern indoor climbing wall and swimming pool. There are many lovely places in South Molton and further up onto the moors where you can sit and enjoy a proper cream tea!

We have a good selection of bikes here that you are welcome to use on your stay and boogie boards for those of you who enjoy the waves (nearest beach 30 mins drive). There are beautiful moorland walks to be had on Exmoor and wild swimming spots for the more adventurous! And fishing in the lakes here for those who fancy it.
