The renovation adopts all local traditional materials: stone, terracotta and chestnut wood with a contemporise flare. 15 mins walk into the medieval market town of Bagnone which offers local trattorie, pizzerie and fine dinning, although the land itself, woodland and wildlife is a foragers paradise! Our local restaurant (10 mins onfoot) is shadowed by the medieval Malgrate castle (en-route of the "via Francigena" the infamous Pilgramidge from Canterberry to Rome), here you can enjoy the local vino in local Tuscan hillside company. River swimming in Bagnone is at its best with an array of rock pools and hidden waterfalls up stream to discover... Local village festivals are also in abundance. The 15 mins drive to motorway exists connect easily with the cultural cities of Florence(1. 30), (Lucca 50 mins), Pisa (60mins), (Genova 60mins), Parma(60mins), Bologna and Milan 2. 1/2 hours. The great Tuscan Ligurian coastal destinations are also well under the hours reach.
