Large family home in Berkeley, beautiful neighborhood, close to San Francisco

We live in a large (5000 square feet) charming brown shingle house built in 1906. The house has five bedrooms, an enormous library, and a huge kitchen. The house has decks overlooking a back garden. The large living room has wood detailing including paneling, built-ins, cabinets and bench seats flanking a working fireplace. There is a large master bedroom with king size bed, en suite bathroom with huge bathtub with jets. There is an upper deck off the master bedroom. Also on the upper floor are two bedrooms with single beds, a bedroom with a queen size bed, an office, and another full bath and half bath. There is a large room on a lower level with a queen size bed, bath, and walk-in shower. There is a sitting room with a pool table. There is a flat screen TV and sitting area in the kitchen. The house has many private spaces and can accomodate many guests comfortably.

About the location

Our house is in a quintessential Berkeley neighborhood, a short walk to great shops and dining on College Avenue and Telegraph Avenue, one mile from the University of California campus, museum and downtown, minutes from Tilden Regional Park, with hiking trails and views of the Bay Area. 12 miles from San Francisco! Close to BART and other public transportation. If you live in a big city, you will find Berkeley bucolic and relaxing, with lots of nearby parks, flower gardens,and beautiful greenspace overlooking San Francisco Bay. There is a park with tennis courts a block from the house. Scenic northern California, including Big Sur, Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, the wine country of Napa Valley, and the redwoods are within a few hours drive away.
If you live in the country, you will find Berkeley and the Bay Area an exciting scene for art, theater, music, cinema, fine dining and great ethnic food. San Francisco is easily accessible by car or BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit).
