Dating from around 1890; Stone House is a peaceful cottage set in just under four acres of land in the beautiful downs along the border between Herefordshire and Worcestershire. A rural and rustic smallholding, it is clean, spacious, well-loved and has all the standard amenities you would expect. Framed by breathtaking views of the Malvern Hills and Linton Downs, there are no immediate neighbours, and the nearest town is three miles away which has supermarkets, bars, restaurants, theatre and a thriving community. It's just twenty minutes by car to Worcester, Hereford & The Malverns, and Birmingham is under an hour away by road or rail.

The house has two double bedrooms, one with a super kingsize bed and one with a trundle bed (two singles). The third bedroom currently has a junior bed, but should soon be a single bed. There are two bathrooms, one upstairs with a bathtub and one downstairs with a shower. The kitchen is fully equipped and there is a separate utility room with washing machine and dryer. Life in the house centres around the open plan living and dining room, which has recliner sofa and armchairs. The dining table has four chairs and two high chairs. There is a smart TV with recorder, and wifi can be accessed throughout the house and most of the garden.

Outside, the garden around the house is almost an acre in size, completely secluded, and bordered by fields and hedgerows. It features a "Breeze House" which is a lovely space to sit, chat, eat & drink. There are two sun loungers, extra garden chairs, and a BBQ outside. We have a large climbing frame with swings, slide and sandpit, and there are plenty of outdoor toys that children are welcome to use.

Please note that we keep a flock of free range chickens, and for shorter swaps ask that guests top up their food and water every few days and collect the eggs from the coop daily. For longer swaps we will make other arrangements if guests require flexibility to spend some days away from the house. There is a large kitchen garden behind the garage from which, during summer and autumn swaps, guests are welcome to help themselves. In exchange we ask that they help water in the greenhouses during their stay.

A local shepherd keeps sheep in our field from time to time. This means that while we accept dogs, guests have an absolute responsibility to control their pet. The garden is completely fenced off so a dog can roam free, however if you think your dog could jump the fence you must ensure that they do not injure any livestock in the field.

About the location

The house is located in the small village of Stanford Bishop and is set on its own in 3.5 acres of land. Our nearest neighbour is "the Pink Pub" aka Herefordshire House which is a small country pub just a stones throw away.

We are about 3 miles from Bromyard which is the nearest town. You can drive to Malvern in less than 20 minutes and to Ledbury in less than 25 min. Hereford and Worcester are both a 30 minute drive away.
