home among the gums

Our comfortable character home, is built on three levels, in brick and weatherboard. It is situated in the middle of five acres of mainly native trees. Wildlife abounds in our area, and parrots visit us daily. The house has air conditioning throughout, for winter warmth and summer cooling.

There is also a sc granny flat attached to one end of the house which is very comfortable and private. It would be useful for non simultaneous swaps.

Sept, Oct, Nov, is spring in WA. Summer, Dec through to Feb, with average temps between 30c and 35c and occasionally higher. Autumn, Mar, April, May, can be warm too, although it mostly averages 25-30 degrees. Winter, June, Jul , Aug, with average daytime temps around 18c- 24 degrees, but can be very cold in the early morning and evenings, we can even get a frost up here in the hills. At other times it can be quite similar to uk summers though. We expect rain, but in between, there are some lovely sunny warm days too, perfect for getting about comfortably and everything is green, unlike summer. Winter and spring is the best time of the year in my opinion.

About the location

We are situated in Stoneville , a small village not far from Mundaring in the heart of the hills.

There is plenty to do in the area, walking cycling, horse riding, good restaurants, shopping centre, etc, transport to Perth. We are near Mundaring Weir, the beginning of the goldfields water pipeline, built by CY O'Connor in the early 1900's and 'The Bibbullam Track', which winds its way through the bush all the way to Albany.

Midland is a larger suburb 20 minutes from Mundaring. It has all amenities. and is the gateway to the Swan Valley and tourist area:- wineries, boutique breweries, restaurants, arts and crafts etc, also historical Guildford.

Perth is our capitol, and is another 30 minutes from there. It is a beautiful modern city, sitting on the banks of the Swan River, yet it has retained an array of historical and cultural interests to attract the tourist.

We are prepared to exchange our car, a late model Prius hybrid, which is very economical on fuel, although we would prefer it not to be taken beyond the radius of Perth's outer reaches, which extends to Yanchep in the north, Mandurah in the south and Northam to the east. If longer distances are of interest to you, then air, coach or rail might be a more comfortable option.
