Sequoia home swap

Situated on a quiet estate on the outskirts of Northampton our comfortable single storey home has a large living room, a kitchen-diner, and two double bedrooms with a third used as a study/nursery for our visiting grandchild. One bedroom has an en-suite shower room and there is also a family bathroom. The attractive garden has a greenhouse and a summerhouse.

About the location

The historic town of Northampton is situated in the heart of England and has excellent transport links to the rest of the country. Oxford, Cambridge, Stratford upon Avon and Birmingham are all less than an hour's drive and London can be reached by train in a little over an hour.
Within the town of Northampton there are a few things which shouldn’t be missed such as the Guildhall, the Northampton Museum and Art Gallery, the market square (the second largest in England), the Royal and Derngate theatres, Holy Sepulchre Church built in 1099 and one of only four round churches left in England and 78 Derngate – the Charles Rennie Mackintosh museum (with the best afternoon teas in town in the attached restaurant).
Northampton is home to a very average professional football team (the Cobblers), a similarly average professional cricket team (the Steelbacks) and a first class rugby union team (Northampton Saints). I’m sure we could find friends to take you to a game at the Saints if you were interested.
We think of ourselves as living in Northamptonshire rather than in Northampton. The county has beautiful countryside, stately homes and a fascinating history. It played an important role in the English civil war, and boasts links to the families of George Washington and Benjamin Franklin. Fifteen to twenty minutes driving can take us to a host of beautiful villages and lovely countryside. Worth a visit is the old Roman town of Towcester (pronounced toaster) and the village of Stoke Bruerne on the Grand Union canal which houses a canal museum. This village was described by German visitors of ours as a well kept English secret! (Until then they’d only visited cities). Castle Ashby, Canons Ashby, Sulgrave Manor (home of the ancestors of George Washington) and of course Althorp House (family home of Princess Diana) are all interesting and accessible places to visit.
