Large town house by the sea home swap
Our house is a 5 bedroom Victorian town house with a lovely small walled garden. We are 5 minutes walk from Folkestone Central Station(48mins to central London), 10 minutes walk from the town centre and the sea.
There are three large bedrooms, one small bedroom and a study (one of these would contain our stuff while away for the 6months). two large, light bathrooms and a third separate toilet on the top floor. There are two cosy living rooms with wood-burning stoves, a large kitchen/dining room, and a lovely new sun-room which opens right out onto the patio/garden. Parking in front of the gate or a small car can fit into the drive. We can arrange use of our car (skoda fabia).
There is internet access, a very well-equipped kitchen, toys for small children, a garden shed and vegetable garden, a large cellar.
There is a shop at the end of our street and a church, with two parks also 5 mins walk away. We are especially lucky in our neighbours right up and down the street; all very friendly.
About the location
Folkestone is a vibrant town on the Kent coast, fast becoming a desirable home for London commuters as the fast train runs to London St Pancras International in 50 minutes. The town has a long history and is now well known for its Arts Triennial and Literary festivals (see www.folkestonetriennial.org.uk and www.folkestonetouristinformation.co.uk ).
For exploring France, the Eurotunnel is 10 minutes from us, where train car-ferries leave for Calais every 15 minutes, making day trips for shopping etc quite viable). Close by in Kent there are beautiful walks on the north downs just behind the town as well as along the coast towards the cinq ports towns of Hythe, Rye or Sandwich and Ramsgate. Inland, Canturbury is 30 mins drive or London about an hour's drive. Also the Jerwood Gallery in Hastings and the Turner Contemporary in Margate.
