Modern family home in sleepy village

A recently modernised Swiss suburban house on a quiet cul-de-sac, just a few steps away from the village shop and bus stop. 3 minute bus ride or 15 minute walk to Lenzburg railway station, providing regular and direct connections to the major Swiss cities Zurich, Bern, Basel and Luzern, etc. The mountains can be reached within a couple of hours, either by train or by car.

A car can be available to exchange parties if wanted. In laws live in the same village and our neighbours are friendly. Plenty of walking and cycling in the area, plus a choice of open-air pools.

House has 4 double bedrooms, 2 of which have children's bunk-beds. Two bathrooms and a separate loo. Modern facilities, garden, terrasse, cellar, parking.

About the location

Staufen is a fairly unremarkable old farming village which has developed over the last 900 years to adjoin its larger medieval neighbour Lenzburg. Both could be described as 'sleepy', with the most action happening in the provincial main 'city' of Aarau, around 8km away. The village itself has 3 'Beiz' or cafés, one of which, the 'Linde', the closest in fact, is a decent place to eat out and is only 100m or so away from the house. Lenzburg old town is a 10 minute walk away, with around 6 or 7 restaurants on the main high street, some of which are excellent. There is also a lively Scottish/Irish pub in Lenzburg, and a classy cigar/whisky lounge.

One of the most intersting things about our location is the convenience of the transport links. Lenzburg station is a short walk away, and has direct trains or good connections to all major northern cities. Plus, in the summer, there are a number of 'Badis' or open air pools nearby, which are great family places to spend cheap days in the brief Swiss summer sun.

A car is probably useful to have, but not really necessary - the train from the airport in Zurich is quick and easy, and the bus from Lenzburg connects well, meaning a relatively short transfer on public transport.

On the whole then, the area is a good central point to explore Switzerland without being particularly spectacular itself, but with woods and rivers very close, it also offers much for a quiet nature-based stay in a new country.
