About the location

Lewes is market town nestled within the South Downs National Park and is one of the original Transition Towns. It is well known for arts and antiques and the area very steeped in history, such as the 1264 Battle of Lewes, Anne of Cleeves house, Tom Paine, Virginia Woolf, the Priory Ruins and the Medieval Castle. The River Ouse runs through the town centre which offers a variety of antique and independent shops, plus Harveys Brewery, good cafes, pubs and restaurants. It even has it's own currency, though pounds sterling are the norm!

Glyndebourne Opera house, Charleston (the Bloomsbury set), Brighton and London are all within easy reach of Lewes.

The town is a 20 minute walk and 5 minutes onto the South Downs.
