Two storey detached home overlooking Departure Bay and Georgia Strait

Ocean views over Departure Bay and the Straits of Georgia! Close to all amenities and ferries to Vancouver.

Our home has two levels with three bedrooms and two bathrooms on the upper floor and two bedrooms and one bathroom on the lower floor. There are two sitting rooms on the upper and one sitting room on the lower floor. There is a full kitchen on both levels. There are 4 cable TVs and 2 D.V.D players and we have access to Netflix on the 42" inch TV in the main living room, family room and in the downstairs sitting room .There is lots of seating area on both the upper and lower levels. Outside, off the family room is a large deck with wonderful views over the straits of Georgia to Vancouver's North Shore mountains. The deck is equipped with a barbeque and patio table and lots of chairs.

The local neighborhood is beautiful and quiet with large lots and well cared for gardens. It has the reputation of being the best neighborhood in Nanaimo. We can sleep up to ten people but would prefer to set our limits at six except under certain circumstances where we may be prepared to allow more. Nanaimo has lots to offer and explore. We are a Port city and consequently have a beautiful seafront area with parks and a seawall to stroll along. There is an area of gift shops and little cafe's where one can stop for tea or coffee or ice cream for the children. We are also close to Vancouver and the capital city of B.C., Victoria.

Nanaimo has lots of parks and lakes where one can go boating or bush walk the numerous trails. Close by we have horse riding, canoeing or khayaking an adventure park with zip line and bungy jumping, whale watching and bear watching.

In winter we have Mt Washington which got more snow last year than any other ski resort in the world. Its a ninety minute drive north of us. We also have the north shore mountains with three ski resorts (Seymour, Grouse and Cypress Bowl where some of the olympic events were held.)All of them are a short 1hr 40min ferry ride away across the Georgia Strait. Nanaimo also has lots of night life with restaurants, pubs, a live theatre and a casino all located within 10 to 15 minutes away. There are also public swimming pools and skating rinks all modestly priced.

A day trip will take you across Island to Tofino with its world famous Long Beach and wild surf. All in all, a perfect little paradise. I would be remiss if i didn't mention our olympic village of Whistler. It's certainly close enough to visit in a day but it would be a long day. An early start and a late return home. Better to plan an overnight stay but it is a must see.

About the location

Nanaimo is centrally located on the Island and perfect for exploring the many attractions in various parts of it. Victoria, the capital of B.C is approx. 90 mins south and can be easily visited on day trips. A long day trip would be over to Uclulet, and Toffino with it's famous long beach. For more rugged adventures take the hwy north up to Port Mcneil and port Hardy to do some whale watching or Grizzly bear sighting. If you like fishing, book a trip from Campbell River or Port Alberni. I'm not a fisherman but i.m told often that it's the best in the world.
