Lovely 4 Bed home in Bordeaux, France

Our house, built in the 18th century of limestone has a large garden surrounded by stone walls and backs onto an open field and vineyard. There is an outside summer kitchen equipped with fridge, oven, electric hob, double sink and BBQ.

Located near the centre of the village which has most amenities that would be required on a daily basis, and all are a very short walk away: bakers, Mini-market with in-house butcher, doctors, chemist/pharmacy, bar, post-office and others. The village also has a Saturday market, excellent for fresh fruit and vegetables in particular, and twice a year (October and April) boasts the biggest, best-known 'Brocante' (antiques fair) in the area.

The house itself is typically French with shutters and exposed limestone walls and beams in some of the living areas. The modern well-equipped kitchen was renovated 6 years ago and has a Stoves dual fuel range, dishwasher, American style fridge/freezer, armoire and fireplace. It is spacious with extensive work surfaces also a round table and chairs. There is a laundry/pantry with washing machine, built in microwave and coffee-maker and cupboards. The rest of the downstairs consists of dining room, sitting room with TV, office with high speed broadband, cloakroom, and entrance hall and porch.

Upstairs there are 4 bedrooms (one of which will be used as our storage room). The master bedroom, overlooking the garden, has a bathroom ensuite with a bath and Italian walk in shower, double basins and WC, the other bathroom has an Italian shower with basin and WC.

There is plenty to do in the area, particularly for wine lovers. We are in the heart of the 'Entre-Deux-Mers' region, and about 15 mins from St Emilion. The recently upgraded city of Bordeaux is about 40 minutes away on a good run, and it now benefits from excellent underground parking, an extensive tramway system, and the facades of much of its beautiful 18th Century architecture have recently been cleaned. Most of the vineyards in the area offer free tastings and sales direct from the cellar, and there are all the famous vineyards in the region to visit: from Medoc first growths through to the famous names of St Emilion. There are all the usual pastimes of golf, local tennis including indoor court, beautiful walks, cycling (nearby extensive cycle track). The Dordogne river is 5 minutes away by car and the area is steeped in history from the medieval period through the 100 years war.
