Flaxland Cottage

We have a lovely Kentish cottage, only 5 miles from Canterbury, set in the beautiful Kent countryside on the edge of a large wood. On the ground floor is a lounge, a large kitchen/breakfast room, dining/family room, bathroom and double bedroom. On the first floor there are three double bedrooms, one with an en-suite, a single bedroom and a family bathroom. The second floor has an open attic double bedroom with en-suite.

There is a log fire in the lounge, Sky TV, two large TVs, Xbox360 and Wii, loads of toys, puzzles and games.

There is also plenty of outdoor space, trampoline, goal posts, swings, fire pit bbq/seating in the garden. There are loads of walks and cycling and we are only a couple of miles from lovely country pubs with great local beers and food.

About the location

We are blessed with beautiful countryside, award winning beaches and seaside towns, historic castles, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and of course, the Roman walled cathedral city of Canterbury. We are just a few miles from Canterbury and 38 mins fast train to London from nearby Ashford (12 miles) - which also has the Eurostar to Paris and beyond. Lots to do and see in the Canterbury area and the nearby beaches and coastal paths are about half an hour drive.

Some ideas for you:

Cycle paths - Chartham to Canterbury, Viking Trail, loads of trails through the local woods to pubs and quaint little villages.
Wildlife parks - Port Lympne and Howletts which protect endangered species
Bit of Culture - Turner Contemporary, Marlowe Theatre and the Gulbenkian. We have the Canterbury International Arts Festival in the Autumn
History - the castles of Dover and Leeds, the Battle of Britain sites and museum, White Cliffs of Dover
Whitstable fishing port with its galleries, artisan crafts and boutique shops
Folkestone seafront - large, free, kids play area, with great fish restaurants or just get fish and chips to take away
And of course Canterbury with its cobbled streets, Cathedral, Roman wall fortification, two castles, modern CBD with all the High Street names as well as numerous boutique shops

A little drive away is the Weald of Kent, Bewl Water, Camber Sands, and Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest

We can also recommend our favorite pubs and restaurants and the local beers and food
