Edinburgh colony flat - Edinburgh city centre

My home is a double upper flat in the Abbeyhill colonies on the north east of Edinburgh city centre. Edinburgh's unique colonies are cottage style terraces built in the 19th century by a builders and trades co-operative to provide decent housing for workers; they are fascinating both socially and architecturally. The upper flats are reached by outside stairs. It's a quiet, friendly neighbourhood tucked away from the main road with no through traffic (but free parking). The house has 2 bedrooms (1 double, 1 single), 1 bathroom, just refurbished, a lovely bright kitchen diner and a cosy front room as well as a sunny (Scottish weather permitting) front garden. There's no TV but plenty of radios as well as WiFi internet access.

I can't swap during the August festivals as that's a busy time for me at work.

About the location

The Abbeyhill colonies are a very friendly and neighbourly area just outside the city centre.

You're a few minutes walk from Calton Hill, Arthur's Seat, Holyrood Park and the bottom of the Royal Mile. You can walk to the east end of Princes Street and Waverley Station in 10-15 minutes, or there are plenty of buses which will take you into town and many other places around the city, including the seaside at Portobello and the Pentland Hills, great for walkers and cyclists.
