SmallBrook Cottage home swap

We renovated our much loved second home ourselves, 25 years ago. It is a little three bedroomed cottage with central heating, woodburning stove, oriental rugs, and antique lamps. It is stylish and very cosy - delightful both in midwinter and throughout the year. It is positioned at the end of a terrace of three cottages - in the centre of Hay-on-Wye but down a quiet pedestrian lane which is a secret even to many locals. Unlike many cottages ours gets bathed in light throughout the day. There are three bedrooms, plus a sofa-bed in the front room.

The main bedroom has extensive views over the Beguin Hills. The little front garden leads into the lovely grounds of the Globe - one of the most interesting community art centres in Wales. theglobeathay.org There's always something interesting happening here.
Washing machine, dishwasher.

Regular buses go from Hereford train station to our house. There are also direct trains to London.

About the location

The house is a two minute stroll from Offa's Dyke and there are stunning views and walks in all directions. Hay-on-Wye is now also a thriving centre of Arts and vintage shops which cluster around the beautiful castle. Five minutes from the house there is a hotel with swimming pool and sauna open to the public. A selection of reasonably priced restaurants, St John's Place http://stjohnsplacehay.tumblr.com/ gets five stars on trip adviser. (Need to book ahead.) Hay's second hand book shops are famous, as is the Hay literary festival. We are two minutes from the river Wye. Canoing, horseriding in the mountains are on the doorstep. So much to do, yet in a tiny Welsh town retaining all its original architecture and community feel.

5 minutes walk to Co-op supermarket. Two mountain bikes for use.

Canoe hire for the beautiful Wye is on the doorstep. Accessible horse-riding in the mountains and valleys is in close proximity.
