Elegant central Oxford One hour train away from central London home swap

We live in an elegant and extremely spacious quiet Georgian end terrace house in Oxford City (South). There are extensive open views from all rooms, yet we are just a 15 minutes lovely walk from the centre of Oxford. From our road you can walk in both directions along the river - a beautiful walk through the park, across Folly bridge and then along the river past Christ Church meadow to the centre with its marvellous chapels and colleges, or the other way; 1/4 hour to the tiny village of Iffley with its weir, and little medieval church with John Piper stained glass window. You take in a lovely riverside pub with numerous local ales on the way.
Frequent trains go to Central London -1hr journey from Oxford.

We live next to Hinksey park with Oxford's heated Lido, open May-October with adjoining tennis courts. Five minutes walk further on there is a hotel with public access to indoor heated pool, sauna, fitness suite etc.

The stylish house, with all period features, has a huge sitting room (with sofa bed if required) and a large dining room with piano. The light filled kitchen breakfast room opens wide onto the garden patio. Large garden. Upstairs and downstairs toilet, plus utility area with all appliances. Huge double bedroom plus smaller double room offered. Large bathroom with shower. When our two children left home we made the third floor of our large house into a completely self contained flat. It is currently occupied by a quiet and respectful young professional couple.

Oxford is full of buzzy restaurants, high on cultural life, cinema, theatre, classical and modern music plus all the beautiful colleges and grounds to explore. It is surrounded by country side - the Coltswolds with its many beautiful villages. Unusually, for a house so central, five minutes walk and you are in open countryside.

Bikes available.

Guests might also wish to use/swap our second home (see HE28162) which is a delightful two bedroomed period end terrace in the centre of Hay on Wye, off Offa's Dyke, town of second hand books. It is a marvellous drive from Oxford of 21/2 hours through the Cotswolds, and Herefordshire with its exceptional churches. Please say which property you are interested in.

Hay-on-Wye is now also a thriving centre of arts as well as being a stone's throw from the Brecon Beacons. www.hay-on-wye.co.uk/.
