The Merchant's House is a Grade II listed town house dating from the 16th Century. This four storey property was completely renovated in 2009 and made available for holiday letting in 2010. It is newly furnished and presented to a high standard (4 Star/Gold under the Visit England scheme). We have found it to be an ideal base from which to explore the surrounding South Devon countryside and coastline which has been designated as an "Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty" (AONB).

Historic Dartmouth itself is well served by good pubs, restaurants and a wide range of shops. It is perhaps best known as a centre for sailing and sport fishing. Surf tuition is available at Bigbury-on-Sea. English wines are produced at Shrapham vineyard.
