Relaxed living in Launceston, the northern capital of Tasmania

Our house is a distinctive looking home built in 1940 with large rooms and plenty of comfort. Formerly the home of a Tasmanian Premier.

Launceston is a smart provincial city with the conveniences expected of a larger city. Cataract Gorge is a must and everyone enjoys Launceston's restaurants, cafes and bars.

We are in Northern Tasmania, and our house would make an excellent base to explore more widely to places like Cradle Mountain, Liffey Falls, the northern beaches, Freycinet National Park, Bay of Fires, Ben Lomond Ski Field (in winter).

Many enjoy walking in the country and mountains.

Our house is easily accessible from the Australian mainland with direct flights from Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne to Launceston. We will pick our exchangees at the airport if possible.

About the location

We are in Northern Tasmania.
Launceston Airport and Devonport Ferry terminal are our points of entry.
From our house, a visitor can comfortably tour along the north coast and northern mountains of Tasmania. Visit the wide beaches, the lakes, the waterfalls.
Quaint places to see like Platypus World, a Seahorse hatchery.
Launceston Cataract Gorge offers walking and dining and swimming for the energetic.
Tours on the river.
Go further to Cradle Mountain and Lake Dove, Wineglass Bay at Freycinet, the renowned Bay of Fires, Macquarie Harbour and Gordon River.
Or stay local and enjoy the sampling of fine wines, or excellent dining.
When you have done all the northern touring, then it is time to go south to Hobart for Bruny Island, Richmond, Mt Field National Park, Tasman Peninsula, MONA.
