Romantic little cottage in La Thiérache.

For ten years now we have had this romantic cottage (1840) in France as a second home. During these years we have renovated this small but cosy house completely. Parts: livingroom (4x4 m), kitchen/dinerroom with all conveniences (4x4 m), sunroom(serre) (3x5 m), bathroom with shower, two bedrooms with double bed (one room half open), terrace, garden with small barn. TV/satelite, DVD player, Radio/CD player, internet/WIFI, telephone, oven/magnetron, washing machine, two bikes, tourist guides and maps of the region.


Our house is situated in Leme (350 inhabitants), on the border of this small village along a small road to a dead end. No traffic, nice garden/orchard (5100 m2), small swimmingpool in the summer, very calm en peaceful, a green place with a lot of privacy, with a nice view on an orchard, gardens, farmland en a ancient forest. Friendly neighours. It is an ideal place for walking and cycling, and doing nothing.

Nearest shops (grocery, bakery, pharmacy) in Sains Richaumont: 4 km. Railway station, supermarkets and restaurants in Vervins: 10 km. About the location

Our house is in La Thierache, an unspoilt green hilly region in the north of France,between the small towns Guise, Vervins and Hirson and 30 km north of the beautifull old city of Laon. The center of La Thierache is the medieval city of Vervins.

The country of Thierache, with its rolling, hedge trimmed meadows (a bocage landscape) is the green lung of the Aisne. Many of its villages are built around heavily fortified red-brick churches, often called red forts.
