Churchgate Apartment

This is my apartment in the small country town of Kirkby Lonsdale. It's a few miles down the road from my home and is my extra accommodation for friends and my base in town. It's a 2 storey apartment in an 18th century listed building with the usual character of oak beams, fireplaces with stoves and views over the town where you can watch and listen to the world going by without being noticed. It's right in the town centre just by the churchyard which has views over the River Lune at "Ruskins View" as painted by Turner. The town is a holiday destination itself with classic english pubs, great places to eat and lots to do. The best pub and restaurant is right next door.

The apartment has all you need with lots of room for up to 5, a fully fitted modern kitchen, 4 piece bathroom and full central heating. This makes it perfect for winter breaks too.

About the location

Its the perfect base for exploring the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, Trough of Bowland and the Eden Valley in Westmorland. You don't need to go that far to enjoy yourselves. It's in Lunesdale which is the most Westerly of the Yorkshire Dales (Technically in Cumbria). The town is a holiday retreat for those who enjoy the country. It's 20 miles from Jn 34 on the M6 coming from the South and 10 from Jn 36 from the North. Windermere and Coniston are 45 minutes away and you can tour the whole of the lakes through Keswick, Borrowdale and the West in a day. However, if you want to avoid the traffic, head North East to Barbondale and up to Hawes or the hidden places such as Ravenstonedale with its Red squirrels. If you like walking, head West to Ingleton for the waterfalls walk ( harder than you think but spectacular) or the three peaks of Ingleborough, Pen-y-Ghent and Whernside. You will go home refreshed and relaxed.
