Rambler Cottage

Our 17th Century cottage is special with lots of period features such as the original bread oven, oak beams, stone walls and a historical spring/pond dating from the 1600s . We have a cosy wood burner, well-equipped kitchen with an Aga, a laundry, dining room, 3 x double bedrooms, 1x twin, 2 x shower/bath rooms, a playroom and off street parking for two cars.

We have a large garden with flowers and fruit and are surrounded by countryside including lambs in springtime in the field behind our garden. There are three patio areas so lots of places to sit and relax with a book or good company.

About the location

We are close to the Cotswolds, Oxford (25 minutes) and lots of beautiful Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire villages and countryside. Our cottage is in the village of Aynho. It is known as 'The Apricot Village' due to the fruit trees along the south facing cottage walls. There is a hotel bar/restaurant, community café, countryside footpaths, children's playground and a recreation field with football and tennis areas, a zip wire, boules pitch and running/cycling track. There is an upmarket beauty spa at Aynhoe Park (http://aynhoepark.co.uk) in the village. There is lots nearby for walking, cycling, running and we're just 20 minutes from The Cotswolds, 15 minutes from the market towns of Banbury or Bicester. Stratford upon Avon is 45 mins . Trains to London (from Bicester) take under an hour and frequent. (We often do day trips to London ourselves for work or pleasure).

Other nearby villages around us have local shops/pubs/restaurants farmers markets including some good places for eating. Bicester Village designer retail outlet is just 20 mins away. Oxford, Banbury and Bicester between them have shops, leisure/cultural facilities including cinemas, leisure centres/swimming pools (including a heated outdoor pool with slide at Banbury) , Universities, museums, theatres, ice skating, There is local fishing, golf courses, canals and horse-riding.
