Large Victorian house in Chorlton cum Hardy

Our home is a large, comfortable Victorian house, located in Chorlton, 3 miles south of the vibrant Manchester city centre. The large house is on 3 floors and sleeps 9 in 5 bedrooms- 4 doubles and 1 single. (There is also a double futon sofa bed that could easily be set up in the study for an extra double room and 2 single mattresses for flexibility). The main master bedroom has an en-suite attached with toilet, washbasin and bidet. There is a family bathroom with slipper bath and separate shower and extra toilets on the first and ground floors.
Downstairs there is a large, light, modern dining kitchen with small conservatory attached and 2 large and comfortable living rooms. There is a utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer and toilet.
The house has wonderful high ceilings, original cornices, fireplaces and original hall floor tiles. A walled garden to the rear of the house is a great place to relax or eat with a range of wooden garden furniture and a barbecue. There is a garden at the front.
We have TV with cable access, computers with printer and broadband, x-box, Wii, lots of books and a large range of DVDs. There are 4 adult sized bikes, tents, camping equipment and a car exchange is available.

About the location

Chorlton is a busy, family-orientated area of South Manchester with a vibrant village feel. It has its own bars, restaurants, pubs, churches, parks, supermarkets, independent shops and award winning grocers and a deli. (The Barbakaan and The Unicorn). We are 2 minutes walk from Chorlton Green and the famous Beech Road with its independent shops, boutiques, bars, delis and restaurants. There is also a children's indoor adventure play area nearby. Chorlton is well served by buses and the Metrolink tram stations are close by at Stretford and Chorlton with direct access to the city centre and Manchester International Airport. Motorway links are 5 minutes drive away.

Chorlton also has a network of paths at Chorlton Ees which runs down to the River Mersey and is great for local walks or cycling.

We are close to busy and bustling Manchester city centre with its clubs, restaurants, bars, galleries, orchestras, theatres, cinemas, museums and China Town. We are 5 minutes drive away from world class football at Manchester United Football Club at Old Trafford with its stadium tours, museum and shop. We are close to Old Trafford cricket ground, The Chillfactore ski centre and wonderful shopping at the Trafford Centre. There are more galleries, theatres and shops including The Imperial War Museum North at Salford Quays- 10 minutes drive away.
We are within easy reach of Alton Towers, Blackpool and Southport theme parks. The Peak District National Park is an hour and a half away, with its stately homes, quaint villages and country pubs. Yorkshire, home to the Brontes is easily accessible. The Lake District, home to Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter as well as fantastic hiking and sailing is a 90 minute drive away and well worth a visit.
You could visit Liverpool -45 minutes away- with the Beatles museum, Tate Liverpool, John Lennon and Paul McCartney's childhood homes and the famous ferry across the Mersey. Roman Chester is well worth a visit with its Roman history, shops, river and racecourse.
In an hour you could be in North Wales with beautiful beaches and the mountains of Snowdonia. London is 2 hours away by train- great for an overnight stay to see the sights or take in a West End show.
Our region has many stately homes to visit -our closest are Tatton Park, Dunham Massey and Lyme Hall (Pemberley in the 1995 BBC production of Pride and Prejudice with Colin Firth). Chatsworth House (Pemberley in Kiera Knightley's Pride and Prejudice) in Derbyshire is easily accessible.
