Beautiful 400 year old country home - mill cottage

Looking to exchange to Edinburgh for one week during festival weeks- e.g. 4-28th August 2017. There will most likely be just the two of us - John and Esther - both 'seniors' but it is possible that one of both of our sons- 19and 21 years may wish to join us for a few days to experience the festival.

Valley House is a beautiful 400 year old former mill cottage, partially timbered and extended with new kitchen bathroom and bedroom in 2009. It stands within 5 1/2 acres with a lovely large garden, ponds and terrace a stream running through. Other features include a lovely summer house, trampoline, tabletennis, and 10x 5m above ground swimming pool. Broadband internet, wifi and Satellite TV and are available for your use.

This is a rural, semi isolated setting but we are only one mile from the old market town of Devizes with all facilities. It has the famous flight of 22 locks on the Kennet & Avon Canal and glorious countryside. South West England has much of ancient historic interest, namely Stonehenge, 20 mins drive, Avebury Stone Circle. The Roman town of Bath is 40 mins and Salisbury, a 30 mins drive also. Oxford is one hour and Wales 2 hours, London 1.5 hour drive.
Due to the ponds and stream this is not suitable for very young children.

We have two 3year old very friendly cats who love any attention given. There are also 3 chickens requiring daily feeding and checking. Even in the winter they lay 3 delicious orange yolk eggs daily - these you would be welcome to enjoy.

We are keen gardeners and by the summer should have beautiful display of colourful flowers in the beds, tubs and baskets- and we would appreciate daily watering depending on the weather! There may be some fruit and vedge ripe for picking and eating whilst you stay which you would be welcome to use.
We aspire to a lifestyle which cares for the environment and have hot water heated by solar panels and recycle and reuse where possible. A good match in a House swap would be sympathetic to this.

We do ask that you do not smoke either in the house or garden and prefer like ourselves that you are non smokers.
